Background

As many people know, breast cancer, or any form of cancer, can disrupt your normal life more than you can imagine. I can speak from my experience of going through this along side of my mum, Diane. The funds for research are vital to not only curing the cancer, but also the aftercare.

Diane had a total of four operations, with endless trips back and forth to the hospital. Living 25 miles from the hospital, made the days long and sometimes pretty endless. But the people and staff there are wonderful and made the experience more bearable.

But regardless of that, the experience is scary and daunting, right from first diagnosis until the last radiotherapy session. So, speaking with Debbie, and seeing all the efforts of other people going to too raise money for breast cancer research charities, we decided we would also do something. Because if we can all help fund only a tiny piece of the research into cancer, then it will hopefully make treatments and cures and the side effects on the patients and their families less daunting.

With breast cancer affecting a high majority of female sufferers, don’t be fooled that it doesn’t affect men. They can suffer from it too! We thought it’d be fitting to get the boys doing something, or ‘bear’ something for the girls! Once we have our pilots and the calendars are printed they will be available to all, price etc to be confirmed. But we aim to promote them at airshows and flying clubs next year, so if you’re involved with a club or a show, let us know and we would greatly appreciate your support... (cont'd)
